A wellness coach helps individuals achieve their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health goals by providing personalized guidance, support, and accountability. The focus is on developing sustainable lifestyle changes that enhance overall well-being.
-
Therapy and counseling focus on healing emotional trauma, mental health challenges, or processing past experiences. They often abstract and explore information from the past to provide healing. In contrast, wellness coaching is future-focused, emphasizing goal-setting, healthy lifestyle changes, and personal growth by utilizing your present strengths and aspirations to move forward. Wellness coaches do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions but instead guide clients in achieving overall well-being through actionable and supportive steps.

To get the most out of your wellness coaching session, it’s important to take some time to reflect and prepare. Here are a few steps to ensure you're ready and able to make the most of your time with your coach:
Reflect on Your Goals: Think about what you want to achieve through coaching. Whether it’s improving your physical health, managing stress, or finding more balance in your life, having clear goals will help your coach guide you more effectively.
Assess Your Current Well-being: Consider how you're currently feeling in different areas of your life—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Are there areas where you feel stuck or out of balance? Jotting down notes on this can give you a starting point for your session.
Create a Comfortable Space: Set up your environment for the session in a way that makes you feel relaxed and focused. Choose a quiet, private spot where you won’t be interrupted. Consider bringing something that helps you feel comforted and grounded, such as a cozy blanket, a cup of tea, a candle, or anything that provides a sense of peace and calm during the session.
Be Open and Honest: Wellness coaching works best when you’re transparent about your challenges and lifestyle. Your coach is there to help, not to judge, so share openly about what’s been difficult or where you need extra support.
Bring Questions or Concerns: If you have specific areas where you need guidance, have a few questions ready. Whether you're struggling with motivation or looking for new ways to manage stress, these questions can help guide the conversation.
Stay Open-Minded: Be open to exploring new strategies, perspectives, or approaches. Growth often happens outside your comfort zone, so stay receptive to trying new techniques your coach may suggest.
Be Prepared to Take Action: Wellness coaching involves goal-setting and taking actionable steps. Come ready to discuss strategies and commit to small, manageable actions you can take between sessions.
Hydrate and Center Yourself: Before your session, hydrate, relax, and take a few deep breaths to center yourself. This will help you enter the session feeling grounded and focused.
Have a Notebook or Journal: Bring a notebook to take notes on key insights, action steps, or reflections during the session. Journaling can also help you reflect between sessions and track your progress over time.

While social media offers an abundance of wellness advice, it’s important to remember that not all tips are created equal. A trained wellness coach provides personalized guidance based on evidence-based practices and years of experience. Here are some key differences:
• Depth and Expertise: Wellness coaching goes beyond surface-level advice, diving into the complexities of your personal goals, struggles, and needs. As a coach with a background in mental health and trauma-informed care, I offer strategies that align with your deeper emotional and physical well-being.
• Sustainable Change: Quick fixes often don’t last. My approach focuses on building sustainable routines and habits that fit your unique lifestyle, ensuring you experience long-term growth.
• Safe Space for Healing: Working with a coach gives you the opportunity to explore your personal challenges in a confidential, supportive environment, something that can’t always be offered by social media personalities.
When you’re looking for true transformation, working with someone trained to guide and support you through that process is key.
